Privacy Policy

Breviaz ("we", "us", or "our") provides an AI-assisted expense tracking service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Breviaz you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account data: name, email, and authentication identifiers provided by our auth provider (Clerk).
• Expense data: amounts, dates, descriptions, categories, payment methods, and related metadata you create in the app.
• Receipt images: photos or files you upload so we can extract expense fields with AI (OCR).
• Billing data: subscription status and customer identifiers managed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
• Usage & product analytics: events such as sign-up, first expense saved, or upgrade (e.g. in our ProductEvent store) to improve the product. We do not sell this data.
• Waitlist: email address if you join the public waitlist before or without creating an account.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and similar logs needed for security and reliability.

2. How we use information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Breviaz service.
• Process receipt images with AI (currently OpenAI vision models via our OCR service) to suggest expense fields you can review before saving.
• Send transactional emails (welcome, capture reminders) when configured.
• Process subscriptions and payments via Stripe.
• Enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and secure accounts.
• Comply with legal obligations where applicable.

3. AI / OCR processing

When you upload a receipt, the image (or a temporary URL) is sent to our OCR microservice and then to a third-party AI provider to extract structured fields. You remain responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data before saving. Do not upload receipts that contain sensitive personal data you are not authorized to process.

4. Service providers

We use trusted processors to operate Breviaz, including:

• Clerk — authentication
• Supabase — database and file storage
• Stripe — payments
• Resend — transactional email
• OpenAI — receipt vision / OCR extraction
• Vercel (and our OCR host) — application hosting

These providers process data under their own terms and only as needed to deliver the service.

5. Retention

We retain account and expense data while your account is active. Receipt images are stored to support your expense history and export features. Retention may vary by plan (for example, Free vs Pro). You may request deletion of your account and associated data; we will delete or anonymize data unless we must retain it for legal, security, or billing reasons.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email hola@breviaz.com. You can also delete your account through our authentication provider where available.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies required for authentication (Clerk), security, and basic product analytics. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on the app today.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, access controls, server-side secrets, and database row-level security for PostgREST). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and keep your account credentials confidential.

9. Children

Breviaz is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries where our providers operate. By using Breviaz you acknowledge that processing may occur outside your country of residence.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
